PROBLEM STATEMENT
Peace of mind, wherever you go. That’s how Uber wants their drivers to feel when driving at night, in areas that feel unsafe, or with an unruly passenger. Our goal was to help Uber improve their safety alert features to help drivers and their loved ones feel at ease when on the job.

“Peace of Mind, Wherever You Go”
DISCOVER
To uncover factors that cause Uber drives to feel unsafe while driving, we interviewed 12 Uber drivers in two cities, Atlanta, Georgia and New Orleans, Louisiana. Our survey was designed to assess safety concerns, past incidents, areas for improvement, and ease of communication.
Reviewed the prototype and prepared a discussion guide for our interviews.
12
Conducted 6 interviews in Atlanta and 6 interviews in New Orleans.
Recorded interviews and documented the feedback from drivers in XMind, a software mind mapping program.
SYNTHESIS
Synthesized notes from the mind map and summarized findings in an annotated report. Annotations highlighted major findings in callouts, and identified areas for improvements and recommendations for the Uber app to help drivers feel safer.
